1. No alcohol before or during investigation.
2. No smoking during an investigation unless you are on a break.
3. Minimise the numbers of non-investigation personnel.
4. Be alert, be aware, be vigilant, be patient.
5. Stay in groups of 2 or more, avoid being on your own, if anything happens to you, there is no back up!
6. Wrap up warm, some venues can be very cold!
7. Wear dark clothing, apart from looking flash, it also minimises reflective surfaces.
8. Switch off ALL mobile telephones, make sure people know where you are and that you'll be out of contact for a few hours.
9. Don't assume anything that happens is paranormal or supernatural, always look for a logical explanation.
10. Try not to scream at the slightest noise!
11. Be aware of what your team mates are doing, particularly if you are running or helping to run the investigation.
12. Keep accurate notes at all times.
13. Be polite and respectful to owners/occupants of property.
14. No one is to partake of any illegal substances before, during or after an investigation - anyone thought to be under the influence of either drugs or alcohol will not be permitted to take part in the investigation and have their group membership terminated with immediate effect.
